Knightscope, Inc. ("Knightscope," "we," "our," or"us") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our clients' ("you" or "your") personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect the information obtained through our products, services, and website.

  • Device Information: unique device identifier, IP address, MAC address, license plate numbers.

  • Security and Surveillance Data: Footage (video, images, recorded intercom files), and system metadata from Knightscope security devices or robots deployed at your location.

We also automatically collect certain information about your interaction with the services. To do this, we may use cookies or other tracking technologies. 2. How We Use Your Information (Data Flow)

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To provide, maintain, and improve our products and services.

  • Data Flow Management:

    • Across system boundaries and compute instances (including containers).

    • From compute instances to storage solutions.

    • During replication between availability zones.

    • For transmission of backups to secure storage.

    • Fromload balancers to compute instances.

    • For operational flows from management tools required for system functions (e.g., log collection, scanning).

  • Communication: To communicate with you about your account, respond to inquiries, and provide customer support.

  • Security and Safety: To ensure the safety and security of our clients, employees, and facilities.

  • Compliance: To comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

  • Research and Development: To analyze usage trends and improve our products, services, and features.

 

3. Sharing of Information (System Security PlanCompliance - SSP)

We do not sell your personal information. However, we may share information with third parties in the following circumstances:

  • ServiceProviders: With trusted service providers that help us operate our business and provide services to you (e.g., cloud storage, data analytics, payment processing).

  • Legal Requirements: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.

  • Business Transfers: In connection with or anticipation of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, sale of assets or other business transaction.

 

4. Data Security

We implement robust security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures align with the security controls documented in our SSP, including encryption, secure access controls, regular security audits, and employee training.

 

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as required by law. Once the retention period expires, we securely delete or anonymize your information. Our data retention practices are consistent with the security controls outlined in the SSP and comply with contractual agreements with customers.

  • Video Data: Raw video data is retained on the Autonomous Security Robot for a maximum of 30 days from the date recorded, then overwritten per the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) guidelines.

  • Video Clips: Saved video clips related to detection alerts are stored in a dedicatedS3 bucket and retained for the life of the contract.

  • Audit Logs: Logs containing customer metadata are retained for a minimum of one year.

 

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information; however, these rights are not absolute, and in certain cases, we may decline your request as permitted by law, including in the event you reside in a location that does not currently grant you these rights:

  • Access: To request access to the personal information we have collected about you.

  • Correction: To request corrections to any inaccurate or incomplete personal information.

  • Deletion: To request the deletion of your personal information under certain circumstances.

You may exercise any of these rights by contacting us using the information provided below. We may need to collect information from you to verify your identity, such as your email address before providing a substantive response to the request.

Additionally, our vendors must comply with the following Knightscope requirements:

  • Ensure data and website security requirements align with Knightscope policies and procedures.

  • Assume full responsibility for establishing appropriate security measures to control access to their respective equipment and information.

  • Take full responsibility for any unauthorized collection, access, disclosure, or use of all information related to Knightscope ASR.

  • Implement administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect information.

  • Comply with all applicable laws, including but not limited to data security, privacy, data protection, marketing, and consumer protection laws.

 

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes to the way in which we use or disclose information we collect, we will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on our website. Your continued use of our services after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
